What is this?

This site is the culmination of all my ideas, opinions, reflections, rants, notes, and much more. I don’t go into much personal detail (I have an actual journal for that), but I share my perspective as a single mind in a vast world of knowledge. I want the people I care about to get to know my thoughts without me injecting them into random conversations. After all, we all have thoughts.

How does this work?

Websites are basically just text files. This means that even when this website stops being maintained, there is still a single folder on my computer that contains everything on this site.

Furthermore, this site is being synced via a GitHub repository. If you visit https://github.com/coltonengle/thought-bubble-vault you will find all my writing, as well as a complete history of every change I’ve made to it. I believe that this transparency is important because it shows a full timeline of my thinking. Plus, even if my website goes down for any reason, GitHub is unlikely to go anywhere.

Why?

Writing has always been my favorite form of expression. For as long as I’ve kept a journal, I’ve always written to an “audience” without considering who the audience might be. But if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

I want to create something to share to the world. Something to pass on to people after me, whether it’s my future children, my brothers’ children, or anyone who just likes reading nonsense. Since I’m not big on physical items (we all have too much stuff), I’d rather leave something unobtrusive. And what’s less obtrusive than text files? My hope is to inspire someone. Even if just one person reads something I write, and it gives them a fresh perspective on life, I will consider that a satisfying legacy. The best part is: you don’t have to read it if you don’t want to! Again, unobtrusive.

At the time of writing this, I’m approaching my twenty-first birthday. I’m right at the age where I know some things, yet I know nothing. And maybe no one knows anything! But the best part about aging is that everyone does it. So, as I add to this folder, I’ll be documenting my aging process. And hopefully someone who reads this will learn how to age just a little bit better than I did.

Oh, and obviously I’ll never use artificial intelligence here.
